I’ve been fortunate to be up close and personal at some of Ireland’s most breathtaking sporting moments whether it be All Ireland Finals in Croke Park or Bernard Dunne’s World Boxing title at the O2.  But when you have COPD, your most breathtaking moment can come when you least expect, and can seriously change your quality of life. Don’t let COPD take control of your life.

What is your most breathtaking moment?

The first-ever Riverdance, the final kick of the 2009 Six Nations, the sight of your first grandchild? Or was it simply climbing a set of steps?

Life is full of breathtaking moments. But for a person suffering from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD, the reality is that their breath is taken from them every day. And it can happen doing something as simple as walking up a staircase, playing with grandchildren, or doing the weekly shop.

What is your most breathtaking moment?

COPD is a serious lung disease that makes it harder to breathe as time goes on. In Ireland, it is estimated that 110,000 people suffer from COPD (click here for more information). If you currently smoke, or have been a smoker in the past, and are experiencing breathlessness, a persistent cough and are troubled by wheezing and/or phlegm, it is possible that you have COPD.

Pfizer and Boehringer Ingelheim, in conjunction with the Irish Thoracic Society, would like to emphasise that being diagnosed with COPD doesn’t have to mean missing out on life’s truly breathtaking moments.
